About this Opportunity
Program description: TheRestored Depot and WWII Veterans Museum offers two volunteer opportunities includinggreeting museum visitors and helping them to enjoy the museum to the fullest; FlowerGarden Assistant during Spring/Summer/Fall - assisting with weeding and care ofoutdoor flower beds. Training isavailable to help you be better informed about the Depot and the Museum so thatyou can provide visitors with an educational experience. Depending on volunteers area of interest helpis needed with database input for collections, research for local history orartifacts, assisting with exhibits research, labeling, arranging, etc. There are also opportunities to assist withspecial events.

Duties Greeter andTour Guide:
Attendingtraining for specific areas of interest.
Greetand engage with visitors, answering questions and encouraging discussion.
Leadguided tours of the museum, sharing knowledge about exhibits and the history ofRed Oak.
Dustingand cleaning the top of the glass exhibits as time permits.
Promotethe Restored Depot and WWII Veterans Museum throughout the community.
Duties Research Assistant:
Attendingtraining for specific areas of interest.
Assist staff with archival researchand cataloging historical materials.
Compileinformation for exhibits and educational programs.
Organizeand maintain research files and resources.
PromoteRestored Burlington Northern RRDepot/WW II Museum throughout the community.
Duties Special Events:
Attendingtraining for specific areas of interest.
Assist in planning and executingmuseum events.
Support event setup, registration,and logistics on the day of the event.
Promotethe Restored Depot and WWII Veterans Museum throughout the community.
Duties Flower GardenAssistant:
Plant flowers during spring months.
Weed and maintain the flower beds.
Prepare beds for winter.
Skills required:
RSVPvolunteers must be 55 years of age or older.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Passionfor history and community engagement.
Ability tolisten and solve problems.
Ability towork independently or as part of a team.
Flexibilityto take on various tasks as needed.
Supervision: Volunteers will besupervised by Museum Manager, Jolene Crawford.
Shifts: Greeter/TourGuide shifts are 2 hrs. in length on a weekly basis. Flower Garden Assistant is flexible and canbe as needed to maintain the beds.
