About this Opportunity

Program description:

S.H.E. (Supporting, Helping, Empowering) Counts Davis Girl Power Math Club. The mission of S.H.E. COUNTS is to support, help, and empower women and girls in Poweshiek County. Created in 2013, S.H.E. COUNTS is headed by a diverse group of women within the county who are committed to helping move women and girls towards self-reliance. There are currently 30-35 girls in the program. Each session there is a fun activity that teaches math skills. As a volunteer you would be assigned to help a group of girls (5-6 approx.) on the activity of the day.



Duties:

Build relationships with 3rd and 4th grade girls

Provide math education and fun educational activities

Work with a group of 5-6 girls

Skills required:

RSVP volunteers must be 55 years of age or older.

Relate well to youth

Basic math comprehension needed

Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis


Amount of Time: Volunteers meet weekly for 1-2 hours


Time of Day: Wednesdays afterschool until 5pm; October-March
