Southwest Iowa Technical Career Hub - Indoor Walking Volunteer

The RSVP Indoor Walking Volunteer will get their move on! If you love some exercise and are an early bird this job is for you! SWITCH will open their building to the public from 5:30 7:30 am, Monday through Friday, for indoor walking. You can greet and monitor walkers and get your own steps at the same time! Bring your smile and your coffee!

Program description: At SWITCH - Lakin Foundation Training Hub, we specialize in providing space to established educational partners who offer vocational training programs designed to equip individuals in Iowa with the skills necessary for career advancement. We also want to serve our community by providing additional opportunities for education and healthy lifestyles. Volunteers are being recruited to unlock the building from 5:30-7:30 am and monitor walkers during that timeframe. With your help, we can make a positive difference in the health of area residents.

Duties:

Open the SWITCH building for 5:30-7:30 am public access.

Turn on lights in the original building and gymnasium.

Greet and monitor walkers throughout that timeframe.

Get your own steps in if you like!

Work cooperatively with the SWITCH Director.

Skills required:

Must be 55 years of age or older.

Successfully pass a background check.

Relate well to staff and the public.

Reliability is essential.

Supervisor: Volunteers will be supervised by the SWITCH Director.

Amount of Time: 2-hour weekly shifts. A minimum of 1 shift weekly is appreciated, but feel free to take more!

Time of Day: 5:30-7:30 am, Monday through Friday.
