About this Opportunity
Volunteer Mentors and Coaches Needed for FIRST LEGO League Jr (ages 6-10) and FIRST LEGO League (ages 9-14). Multiple teams now forming in the CR/IC Corridor. Non-Technical (no robotics/engineering experience necessary) and Technical Roles Available, starting immediately:
FIRSTLEGOLeague is the most accessible, guided, global robotics competition, helping students and teachers to build a better future together. The program is built around theme-based Challenges to engage children ages 9 to 16* in research, problem solving, coding, and engineering. The foundation of the program is theFIRSTCore Values, which emphasize teamwork, discovery, and innovation. Students emerge more confident, excited, and equipped with the skills they need in a changing workforce.
Mentors and Coaches are individuals from all backgrounds and disciplines who work with students to share their knowledge and guide them through the season. Many Mentors and Coaches contribute on a twice weekly basis during the program season, or support the team with subject matter expertise, on an as needed basis. Teams may have additional or more specialized roles or combine roles as needed. In addition, Mentors help students to embrace FIRST LEGO League Jr. and FIRST LEGO League Core Values.More information on FIRST Programs at www.firstinspires.org

Job Description - Adult Facilitator:
Facilitates meetings and helps team to orchestrate the work
Assists the team in following Challenge instructions and guidelines
Administrative responsibilities such as registering teams
Support the learning process, while allowing team members to make critical decisions through the building and poster development processes
Desire to work with students 6-10 years of age
Season runs from May April (regular season mostly late August thru mid-Feb; some variation, depending on team)

Job Description Coach/Mentor:
Help the team set realistic goals
Facilitate meetings and help the team to coordinate the work
Administrative responsibilities such as tournament registration and communication
Relay all aspects of FIRST LEGO League guidelines and rules to the team, other Coaches, Volunteers and parents
Desire to work with children 9-14 (in US; 9-16 in other countries)
Season runs from May April (regular season mostly late August thru late-Jan.; some variation, depending on team - many run year-round, with fewer meetings in the preseason)
