Are you an individual who thrives on social interaction and the knowledge that you have helped senior citizens feel less isolated and alone through activities and resources? Do you enjoy learning about history and experiences across generations and social groups? Then you are a perfect fit for being a program host at the Life Enrichment Center.

Description:

Program Hosts are at all program sessions to which they have scheduled themselves to act as a host to senior citizens in attendance. Program hosts may be working alone, or ideally, will be working with a co-host. Program hosts arrive at least hour before programs begin and are responsible for all set up for a program. This will include set up for refreshments (drinks and snacks), table and seating arrangements, sign-in sheets, and name tags. They will meet and greet speakers, if appropriate, and assist them with set up that may be required. Program hosts will meet and greet all attendees, assist them to sign in, find seating, and offer refreshments. Program hosts interact and socialize with attendees. Program hosts are responsible for tear down and clean up after the session has concluded.

Qualifications:

Program hosts must possess strong customer service skills and be able to work with a significant level of independence. They should be able to communicate well with a wide variety of individuals from various social and cultural groups. Program hosts should have the physical ability to lift, reach, carry and move objects under 10 lbs.

Times Needed:

Mondays 12:30 to 4:00, Thursdays 8:30 to 12:00. Volunteers have flexibility to choose the days and times that work into their schedules.

All volunteers are required to be interviewed prior to volunteering and to attend an orientation to our organization as well as an orientation to their specific volunteer assignment. Most volunteers will be with an experienced volunteer at least twice or until they feel comfortable with the assignment they will be doing.
