Title: New Futures Programs Elementary Summer Camp Counselor
Supervisor: Program Coordinator, Grades K-6
Program Dates: July 10th- August 24th
Locations: Windsor Heights Apartments
New Futures Elementary Program: Our Elementary School Program offers children a safe, supportive environment after school and during school breaks. Our seven-week intensive summer program focuses on sports, STEM subjects, reading, art, field trips and fun!
POSITION SUMMARY: The Elementary Summer Camp Counselor will assist the New Futures Program Coordinator administer program activities by helping participants in group and individual settings, setting up and breaking down classroom, and possibly going on field trips. Counselors also will act as mentors and positive role models for the students in the program. It is expected that counselors attend a half day training prior to the first day of camp.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Program Coordinator with program activities
- Engage and build relationships with elementary school students
- Tutor elementary school students in academic subjects such as reading and math
- Collaborate with Program Coordinator to develop academic and recreational activities for students
- Assist with program set up, minor food preparation, group management, and classroom break down
- Perform related work as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An open, caring, and non-discriminatory attitude
- License for driving/clear driving records a plus
- Agree to undergo a background check completed by SWYFS
- Commitment to at least one half day per week during the 8-week summer camp
- Knowledge of a language other than English beneficial, but not required
