Volunteer Job Description
Title: New Futures Programs After-School Tutor
Supervisor: Program Coordinator, Grades K-6
POSITION SUMMARY: The After-School Tutor will assist the New Futures Program Coordinator in administering program activities, helping students individually with homework, building students academic skills, setting up and breaking down the classroom, and possibly going on field trips with the group. Tutors will also act as mentors and positive role models for students during the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Program Coordinator with program activities
- Engage and build relationships with elementary school students
- Tutor elementary school students during after-school homework help time
- Collaborate with Program Coordinator to develop activities for students
- Assist with program set up, preparation of snack, group management, and break down
- Assist with clean up, dishes, and other program components
- Perform related work as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An open, caring, and non-discriminatory attitude
- Good written and oral English skills
- License for driving/clear driving records
- Ability to pass a Washington State Background check
- Commitment to the position for at least three months, preferably the entire academic year
- Knowledge of a language other than English beneficial, but not required.
