Spring is here and YOU are needed to visit your fellow Veterans! Only YouUnderstand!
Visit with Samaritan's veteran patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities inyour local community throughout Gloucester County. Support our patients and their family caregivers through companionship, sharing military experiences, sharing stories, attending medal ceremonies, performing life review, reading, playing cards and games, acting as a friend or neighbor.
Volunteers visit once a week for 2-4 hours anddo notprovide any hands-on care. No experience or healthcare background needed. Training is provided.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum Age: 18
- One-year commitment
- Volunteer Orientation and Training
- Medical Clearance:
- Initial Tuberculosis test(paid for by Samaritan)
- Titers to check immunity for chicken pox, measles, and German measles (being immune not required to volunteer)(paid for by Samaritan)
- Annual flu vaccine
- Initial health screen
- Ongoing: Monthly Documentation, Annual Education
We ask that all volunteers bring the following qualities to their work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, a nonjudgmental attitude, reliability, flexibility, and compassion.
