Samaritan, a not-for-profit, non-sectarian agency founded in 1980 by visionary volunteers, has been serving the hospice, palliative care, and grief needs of South Jersey since 1980. During this time, our goals have always remained the same providing comfort, support and dignity to our patients and their families during their time of need wherever patients consider their home to help them live their best life every day.Samaritan offers diverse opportunities for individuals wanting to share their time and talents.

Mission Statement

Samaritans special, comforting kind of care embraces a person living with advanced illness promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual quality of life as you define it, enabling you and your family to spend time focusing on what matters most to you, and supporting family members during and after a loved ones illness. Samaritan provides support through a team of experts including a physician, nurse, social worker, certified home health aide, spiritual support counselor, bereavement counselor, and a volunteer. This team answers questions, offers counsel, helps with advance directives, provides pain and symptom relief, gives warm bed baths, and so much more.

Samaritan welcomes people with big hearts and generous spirits to join our volunteer team to support a wide variety of opportunities. We offer projects, administrative, patient visits, phone calls, crafting, and more!
