About this Opportunity
WFHB Community Radio's news department is searching for a reporter to cover events and assist our organization in delivering important news-related content to the public. In this role, you will perform first-hand information gathering through on-site and in-studio investigations, reports, interviews, and Q&As.
To ensure success as a reporter, you should be interested in current events, research, adhering to ethical principles, and maintaining professionalism at all times. Training will be provided and experience of all kinds are welcome.
Responsibilities:
Researches and writes news stories.
Conduct interviews, on the phone or in person (or in Zoom), and select soundbites for air.
Package stories, which includes recording voice-over and editing together pieces.
Record interviews to be aired as back and forth pieces.
Some reporters may be assigned beats.
Encouraged to take photographs for their stories.
Skills:
You will learn how to edit audio and record interviews to air on the radio. You will also learn valuable skills like Wordpress, SEO and broadcast journalism.
