About EducArte
EducArte is a Brazilian-founded and run performing arts organization with a Brazilian and Latin American executive director, board members, staff, and artists. Through Brazilian cultural arts, we connect local Brazilians with each other and the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region. We envision a vibrant, sustainable arts landscape where our Brazilian community enjoys easy access to our cultural heritage, and where our artists share their unique stories, enriching our regions cultural tapestry.
EducArte was founded in 2015 by Brazilian musician Pablo de Oliveira and dancer Kate Spanos to address the lack of representation for Brazilians in the DMV arts scene. We advocate for the artistic and cultural needs of local Brazilians and produce programs that feature our faces and Brazilians teaching their knowledge of our cultural arts. EducArtes programs foster equity and inclusion, challenge stereotypes, validate and value our artists and practices, and promote a more diverse portrayal of our community.
