About this Opportunity
Helping Hands for Humanity supports and raises funds for Children's Education.
We need volunteers to help us make friendship bracelets to support our cause: to eradicate poverty through education.
Middle school and high school students are eligible to earn SSL hours by makingfriendship bracelets.
SSL Hours: One6-8 stranded friendship bracelet= 1 hour of service hour.
Instructions for Bracelet Making:
1. The bracelet must be the tied type and should be made of embroidery floss, not yarn or any other material. They must bethe type shown in the example below (a bracelet made of tied knots). It should have long ends of at least 3 inches on either side (braided) and the woven part must be 5"-6" (see photo).Please make 1 and get it approved before making more.
If you do not know how to make the style that we are requesting above please check out YouTube for methods.
2. Please make one and get it approved by emailing a picture with measurements to '[email protected]' before making more. The woven part of thebracelets needs to be 5-6 inches long with at least 3 inches of string on each end to tie the ends together.
3.Please do not make simple braided ones and turn them in.The braided ones only take a few minutes to make and will not be accepted.
Instructions for Bracelet Drop-Off:
1. Please document your workby taking an action shot photo of them being assembled and a group shot of thefinished package once you've finished.
2. Upload the documents on Google Form:https://forms.gle/2m2xufLZmvfRGbni6
3. Place the items in a clean plastic bag
4. Make a log by writing downyour name, the number of bracelets made, along with your name and date and have your parent/guardian initial it.
5. Please drop off your donations at 8500 Carlynn Dr, Bethesda (can be dropped in mailbox) from 6am-6pm any day of the week.Please do not knock or ring the doorbell.

- Do I need to sign up?There is no need to sign up,just start crafting as soon as you like.
- Is there a limit to how many I make?No limit.
- Can I make another type of bracelet?Sorry, at this time we are only looking for tied friendship bracelets
- Is this approved for MCPS SSL hours?YES.
- Are these items still needed?YES, it isstill an ongoingneed.
- How willI receive my SSL hours?You will receive your SSL form via email once your service is complete and you have submitted your log and photos.

Student participation in this service project is at the discretion of the students parent/guardian. The nonprofit organization is not responsible for maintaining student safety and privacy. The nonprofit organization will determine the number of SSL hours awarded based on the evidence submitted. Parents/guardians should contact the nonprofit directly with any questions and/or concerns. This service activity is designed to be completed within the safety of the students home.
