Living Historian - Musician - Scottish Bagpiper

"King George and Broadswords!" was the rallying cry as a group of Scottish Highlanders charged across a partially dismantled bridge in the early morning hours of February 27th, 1776. Little did they know that nearly one thousand Patriots waited for them on the other side. In what would be the last broadsword charge by Scottish Highlanders, The Battle of Moores Creek Bridge was a pivotal battle in the Revolutionary War. This first significant victory for the Patriots in the American Revolution paved the way for North Carolina to be the first colony to declare its independence from British rule.

Join our living history program in commemorating this battle by playing the bagpipes during special events at Moores Creek. We have several large events throughout the year and typically have at least one bagpiper present. In addition, we have "Pipes in the Park" events where the public comes out specifically to hear bagpipe performances.

Duties include: playing the bagpipes, interacting with the public, speaking about the bagpipes, answering questions, etc. 

Volunteers are held to the highest standards of National Park Service behavior.

Moores Creek has limited cell phone service and no Wi-Fi.  Verizon and US Cellular are the two that have OK service, the others do not.
