About this Opportunity
TIME REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of two days a week (4-8 hour shifts)
SUPERVISOR: Environmental Education Specialist
DUTIES:
Volunteer Education Program Assistants may:
• Present curriculum based programs to students (1st Grade through High School) at the park
• Present outreach education programs at schools
• Research and prepare new curriculum based lesson plans and education programs, and
• Assist park rangers in managing the administrative tasks related to the park’s education program.
- Serve as interpreters with the interpretive division as needed.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner,
• Ability to work independently,
• General knowledge of the Hawaiian Islands and history are desirable, detailed Hawaiian cultural knowledge is highly valued
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time,
• Must be able to speak clearly, and
• Must be able to walk a mile.
