About this Opportunity
Volunteers will assist with staffing the mobile visitor center.This is a custom-designed van that is stationed at various locations, generally in the South District of Shenandoah National Park to provide additional information and assistance to park visitors. Main duties will include driving the mobile VC, providing information to visitors on trip planning including suggestions for activities such as hiking and camping, driving directions for the surrounding area and information about ranger programs. Opportunities for informal interpretation especially discussing the purpose of this national park and relative safety information.
Volunteers are asked to commit to volunteering at least one day per week. You must enjoy working with the public in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Knowledge of Shenandoah National Park is a plus. Wearing a volunteer uniform is required. A uniform shirt, nametag, hat and jacket will be provided by the volunteer office. Dark colored pants and closed toed shoes are to be provided by the volunteer.
