About this Opportunity

Do you love books and have a background in library management? The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site is looking for a volunteer to serve as park librarian of the Plains High School Museum and Visitor Center. While our library collection is already well organized and a proper database has been formed, we are seeking someone to help us refine our library’s purpose and scope. We hope that our volunteer can aid in making proper decisions concerning the library’s contents and assist in implementing changes once we have a proper judgement of its tenacity and range.

Volunteers may be required to pass a federal background investigation.

Plains, GA is home to the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. Join the volunteer program of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and help preserve his wholesome and down-to-earth upbringing, sense of social responsibility, and compassion towards all men and women. Our goal is to educate visitors about President Carter’s rural beginnings, his time in office, and the contributions he has made to humanity in the years following his presidency. By volunteering with the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, you will have the unique opportunity to form a bond with this outstanding community while simultaneously helping others learn how a modest young man became President of the United States.
