About this Opportunity

Overview:Assist with trail and parking lot maintenance.

Duties:Routinely visit trailheads and trailsMow and weed-whip trails/parking areasOccasionally paint gates and kiosksRemove graffitiPick up and carry out litterFill brochure boxesMay assist Refuge maintenance staff with light maintenanceInvasive species removal

Qualifications:Ability to work outdoorsGood communication skillsPhysical condition that permits mowing large areas/long trailsPhysical condition that permits hiking on remote and primitive trailsAbility to work independentlyGeneral maintenance knowledge preferred

Training for job:Defensive Driving ? if using government vehicle

Hazards:May hike over uneven terrainIncludes bending and picking up/handling trashMay include being outside for short periods of time in inclement weather (if you get caught outside hiking during)Possible chemical use (Tagster ?for graffiti)Operating machinery (mower)

Personal Protective Equipment (not optional):Gloves when picking up/handling trashEye and ear protection when mowingSafety (steel-toe) boots/shoes when mowing

Note:Position may include other duties as assigned or special events as volunteer wishes. There may be cross over between positions if you would like to participate in other program areas.
