Mississippi River Project/Rock Island District/Thomson Ranger Office Pool 13 is on the Iowa & Illinois border

Administrative/Interpretive Volunteer/Thomson Ranger Office Pool 13:

The Administrative/Interpretive Volunteer is responsible for staffing the Thomson Ranger Office Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Hours may be adjusted. Volunteer may be asked to give interpretive Lock and Dam tours occasionally. Volunteer will be given training for these duties if needed. Volunteer may be required to complete government provided safety training for defensive driving. Volunteers will average at least 21 hours of service per week. The volunteer must provide their own reliable, licensed vehicle, fuel, and insurance. Volunteers must maintain a valid driver’s license. A background check will be conducted. A government vehicle may be provided if available. Information on Lock & Dam 13 can be found at http://www.missriver.org. Recreation Areas of responsibility include: Thomson Ranger Office Lock & Dam 13 Recreation Area.

Days Off are 3 days off per week but flexible, but should expect to work a Saturday or Sunday occasionally.

Campsite: Water, electric, and dump station in Thomson Causeway Recreation Area

Mileage per week: 54 cents per mile, total would depend on how many Lock tours given and/or if the volunteer chooses to stay on a provided campsite.

Mileage Reimbursements will be made once a year at the end of the volunteer season at the weekly rate listed for this position and only for time spent in performance of the duties associated with this position description.
