9MT: Campground Host for Markham Springs

The Poplar Bluff Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri is seeking a volunteer to serve as camground host May 15 through September 15, 2020.  The host would be provided with a site at the Markham Springs Campground.  The host site is suitable for the host's own trailer or recreation vehicle (RV), and offers electricity and sewer service.  There is cell service coverage, though a land-line phone is available for emergency use.

Duties of the Host are to greet campers, provide information and assistance if needed, mow, weedeat, clean campsites when a camper leaves ( pick up litter, clean fire rings and wipe down picnic tables,) clean restrooms and shower house daily and make sure fee envelope boxes are stocked. 

The host should have good people skills and be responsible and neat in appearance. The host must be physically able to perform such tasks as raking, shoveling, mopping and sweeping, performing minor maintenance, inspecting the campground, keeping simple maintenance records, monitoring area use, and occasionally filling out forms.

The host will represent the Forest Service in public contacts, providing information and directions.  Any vandalism or other problems should be reported to Forest Service personnel.

 All necessary tools, supplies, and safety equipment will be provided by the Forest Service, along with appropriate training.  The host should be in the campground and available to the public 5 days out of each week, plus holidays, per their volunteer agreemet.  Days typically needing coverage are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  Service hours are 8 am. to 5 pm. however host may be called upon 24 hours per day if needed.

Other duties may be assigned as agreed upon by both parties.

No enforcement duties are allowed or required.  No collection of fees is allowed or required

You will be required to comply with a schedule and keep a log of the days you are in the campground volunteering.
