About this Opportunity

REQUIREMENTS:    The Marina Hosts (Hosts) will reside at Crab Orchard Marina (Marina).  The Hosts will provide their own camper or temporary living unit. The Host camper will be provided water, sewer, electricity and propane, in exchange for a minimum 24 hours of work per week.  The Hosts must be present and available during established duty hours April through October (weather permitting). Volunteer shirts will be provided to the Marina Hosts for use during work hours.


SPECIFIC DUTIES:    The Hosts will serve as official representatives of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Crab Orchard Marina.  He or she will be knowledgeable of the Marina operation and its policies. He or she will answer questions from Marina patrons and the visiting public.  The Hosts will survey the Marina area at least twice daily, checking buildings, docks, bathrooms, pavilion, power boxes, water lines, and boat moorings. Operation of sewage pump out system and providing gasoline services to all boats on Crab Orchard Lake will be made available Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.  The Hosts will do light maintenance to include mowing, trimming vegetation, replacing light bulbs, picking up litter and down tree limbs. 

• RV hook-up station: water, power (electricity) and sewer. • Volunteer uniform items.

Additional Requirements • Pets must be kept on a leash or otherwise physically restricted and well behaved. You will be responsible for cleaning up after your pets and their behavior. • Host site must be kept clean and neat with a minimal amount of personal possessions outside of the host’s trailer/RV. Storage of personal possessions within or adjacent to FWS facilities (storage building) is generally not permitted, but may be authorized on a limited basis by the Volunteer Supervisor. • Attend volunteer training as requested by the Volunteer Supervisor including: Basic First Aid/CPR, Defensive Driving, Blood borne Pathogens Awareness, Safety, etc. • Have good people skills for dealing with campers and able to handle disputes diplomatically. • Host must be physically able to perform some weed-eating, raking, shoveling, sweeping, lifting and shower/restroom cleaning. • Change in days off or additional time off will be communicated to Volunteer Supervisor. •

Two (2) host couples needed.
