About this Opportunity
This position is for volunteer assistance in maintaining the Day Use Area and other facilities at the National Bison Range, Moiese, Montana.
General duties: Ensuring a clean and well-maintained site for the public is of the utmost importance. All supplies, tools, and equipment are provided by the FWS. Volunteers would be required to perform some or all of the following:

Cleaning and stocking vault toilets

Mowing/line trimming (as needed)

Litter pick up
-
Reporting vandalism or facilities that are in need of repair

Weed pulling along trails
-
Other facilities upkeep as requested
Volunteers must be physically capable of performing these duties.
Season, Schedule, and Utilities:
We are seeking volunteers that are available from approximately the beginning of May thru October 31st. Hosts typically volunteer 4 days a week, may include weekends and holidays. A full season’s commitment is required. A typical commitment is 8 hours/day and 32 hours/week. Refuge staff will coordinate with the volunteers regarding the time of day to complete any maintenance duties. The schedule could vary depending on seasonal demands and needs.
Hosts must provide their own RV or camp trailer in which to live. RV sites are provided on the nearby Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge, approximately 10 miles away. The site includes electricity and water. Pets may be permitted on a case by case basis but have to be approved ahead of time and must be on leash. Also, ATVs, UTVs, and motorcycles have to stay on existing roads and trails. A vehicle will be provided for driving from the RV site to the National Bison Range or other work sites. The FWS can cover some mileage costs for travel to the RV site at the beginning and end of the season.
The post office is located in Charlo, where hosts can either pay for PO Box or can have mail delivered to the office.
