About this Opportunity
The non-profit Friends of the Wildlife Corridor ( www.friendsofthewildlifecorridor.org ) needs customer-oriented, retail-sales savvy volunteers to work in our Nature Store in the Santa Ana NWR Visitor Center. The Store sells educational, interpretive, and promotional products, and revenue from product sales helps fund projects of the South Texas Refuge Complex.
Volunteers act as cashier, stock store as needed, and arrange displays of stock, as well as reconciling sales/income at the end of each day. In addition, they monitor and respond to online sales, shipping product within 24 hours.
Volunteers should be 18 years of age or older, be physically fit, and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Volunteers can expect to work Thursdays to Sundays and flexible working hours to match visitation of the public according to the season. We are looking for a volunteer to work from October through January, and one to work from February through May. Longer commitments will be considered.
The Refuge offers amenities to Friends’ volunteers, such as full utilities, hook-up and washer/dryer in exchange for 24 hours – 32 hours per person, per week. In addition, Friends’ volunteers are eligible to purchase products in the Nature Store at a 10% discount.
