About this Opportunity

Location:

At Rocky Mountain National Park, 14,000 foot glacially-sculpted peaks rise above verdant valleys, twisting rivers, and glistening lakes. You would work on the west side of the park, birthplace of the Colorado River.

Rocky Mountain NP and its surroundings offer outstanding opportunities for a variety of outdoor recreation activities including hiking, camping, backpacking, wildlife viewing, and fishing. Average summer nighttime temperatures are in the 30s and 40s, daytime highs average 70s with frequent afternoon thunderstorms and rain. Some summers can be consistently cool and damp. Snow can occur during any month of the year.

Duties:

Being a positive and welcoming host by walking around the site greeting visitors. Selected volunteers will also need to learn information about the site to provide information and orientation about life on the historic dude ranch. There are also opportunities for working with kids and families and/or demonstrating crafts and skills appropriate to the time (e.g. weaving, whittling, painting, playing music, etc....).

Start and end dates:

June 7- September 7

Shifts needed to cover:

Weekly shift - all days of the week

Shift times are 10:00am-1:30pm, 1:30pm-5:00pm, or 10:00am-5:00pm.

Required / desired skills:

Must enjoy people and public service. Must be able to stand for long periods of time outside at high elevation (~9000 feet).
