Job description:

Volunteers at President Clinton Birthplace Home NHS will join the park staff in conducting historic research as well as planning and delivering interpretive/educational talks and tours. Volunteers will provide information, orientation, and interpretation to thousands of park visitors.

The position involves in-depth study of American presidential history focusing on the childhood of former President Clinton. Duties include studying assigned research materials; developing an accurate, working knowledge of related American presidential history; assisting in preparing and presenting special events; drafting written responses to information requests; researching, developing and presenting interpretive programs.   The position may require the preparation, development and presentation of  on- and off- site educational programs adhering to curriculum guidelines and conducted research to ensure accurate and relevant programming; the utilization of current methods, learning theories, and national education standards in prepared materials and presentations.

Qualifications: Applicants should have an interest in American presidential history and related areas, public speaking skills, basic research skills, ability to organize large amounts of information, ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to handle controversial issues with tact and in a professional manner, and ability to tolerate summer heat for extended periods of time, computer literacy, attention to detail and documentation, the ability to work independently.  Dress will be casual office attire. A personal vehicle for transportation is strongly recommended. 

Time commitment: Volunteer would need to make a significant commitment as position requires extensive interpretive and educational training.

Selection criteria/age requirement: Applicant should specify interest on Volunteer Services Applicants less than 16 years old will need parent/guardian written approval and support. Background check may be required.
