About this Opportunity
Wildlife Ranger
Supervisor:Kristin Raveling, Park Ranger
Commitment: One year minimum
Overview:Serve as a good will ambassador by promoting the appropriate and safe use of the trails
Duties:Routinely visit trailheads and hike the trails (at least twice a month)Record visitor comments, suggestions and concernsObserve and record visitor activitiesObserve and record selected wildlife activitiesPick up and carry out litterComplete and mail in "Volunteer Ranger Report"Fill brochure boxes
Qualifications:Ability to work outdoorsGood communication skillsCuriosity and interest in people, wildlife and outdoorsPhysical condition that permits hiking on remote and primitive trailsAbility to work independently
Training for job:Site specific training
Hazards:May hike over uneven terrainMay include picking up/handling trashMay include being outside for short periods of time in inclement weather (if you get caught outside hiking during)
Safety Equipment:Gloves when picking up/handling trash
Note:Position may include other duties as assigned or special events as volunteer wishes. There may be cross over between positions if you would like to participate in other program areas.
