Living Historian - Loyalist Militia - Scottish Highlander

"King George and Broadswords!" was the rallying cry as a group of Scottish Highlanders charged across a partially dismantled bridge in the early morning hours of February 27th, 1776. In what would be the last broadsword charge by Scottish Highlanders, The Battle of Moores Creek Bridge was a pivotal battle in the Revolutionary War. This first significant victory for the Patriots in the American Revolution paved the way for North Carolina to be the first colony to declare its independence from British rule.

Join our living history program in commemorating this battle by taking on the appearance of a Scottish Highlander. 

Duties include: Interacting with the public, performing weapons demonstrations, answering questions, etc. 

Volunteers are held to the highest standards of National Park Service behavior.

Moores Creek has limited cell phone service and no Wi-Fi.  Verizon and US Cellular are the two that have OK service, the others do not.

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older to handle black powder.
