Job Title: Safe Trails and Shelters in the Park

Overview: Leaf Removal Team

Opportunity Description: Volunteers are needed to remove leaves through fuel reduction around trails and shelter areas within the park.

Duties: 1. Remove leaf buildup from trails, picnic tables, fire pits, shelter areas, buildings and vehicle parking. 2. Volunteer will be walking varied distances over uneven terrain. 3. Use mechanical leaf removing equipment and hand tools.

Work Location: Various locations throughout the park.

Work Environment: Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions. Volunteers will need appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) i.e. dust mask, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, food and water. Proper footwear-closed toe shoes- (boots or tennis shoes) must be worn at all times. Lifting, kneeling, bending over, and walking can be expected. Sun protection needs to be planned for in the form of sun blockers and appropriate clothing.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Required: Ability to listen, learn, and follow instructions. Be able to communicate and work with others. Ability to work safely with and around equipment and other people. A basic knowledge of tools is helpful. Desired: Knowledge of hand tools. Must be in good health and physical condition as some locations are difficult to access. Training will be provided as required to safely handle leaf blower equipment and operate power equipment if available and/or used.

Schedule and Time Commitment Work schedule is flexible. Weekdays and weekends during daylight hours can be arranged. Schedule will be coordinated with appropriate park staff.

Housing Housing and/or RV sites are not available for this position.
