Become a Friendly Visitor for an Isolated Senior in Jamaica, Queens!!

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Central and Southeast Queens. We're currently in need of volunteers to provide social engagement to older adults in Jamaica, Queens. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests. Our client is 67 years old and looking for a volunteer with similar religious beliefs (Pentecostal). Prefers phone calls on weekday afternoons or weekend mornings.

The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, and a background check is required to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call an older adult or do in-person visits upon approval.
