About this Opportunity

As a Volunteer Grantwriter for CrowdDoing's Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention efforts, you will play a crucial role in securing the resources necessary to support our work. Your efforts will help us "unlock" funding from foundations and government agencies, enabling us to continue and expand our efforts to reduce wildfire risk in California.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Researching and identifying potential grant opportunities that align with the consortium's goals and objectives, including both current and future projects
  • Crafting compelling grant proposals that "sell" the consortium's work and clearly articulate the need for funding
  • Working with the consortium to gather necessary supporting materials, such as budgets and letters of support, for grant applications
  • Managing the grant application process, including deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Building and maintaining relationships with funders to ensure ongoing support for the consortium's efforts

Examples of the types of help a Volunteer Grantwriter may be needed to provide include:

  • Gathering information and data on the consortium's past and current work on wildfire prevention, including details on the impact of our efforts and any lessons learned
  • Identifying potential funding sources and opportunities for future projects, such as the development and implementation of innovative solutions for wildfire prevention or the expansion of successful programs into new areas
  • Working with the consortium to develop clear and compelling narratives for grant proposals that highlight the need for funding and the impact that our work will have on reducing wildfire risk
  • Coordinating with subject-matter experts, social entrepreneurs, and other volunteers to gather supporting materials and information for grant applications
  • Communicating with funders to follow up on grant applications and to build and maintain relationships for future funding opportunities

As a Volunteer Grantwriter, you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and dedicated team and make a meaningful contribution to wildfire prevention efforts in California. This is a volunteer role that will require a commitment of at least 10 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as needed. You should have strong writing skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner. Experience with grantwriting is preferred, but not required.
