Position: Bereavement Services Volunteer
Location: Home
Reports To: Volunteer Coordinator
Schedule: Flexible; Typically, 2–6 hours per week
Position Description:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Bereavement Services Volunteer to assist our bereavement team with administrative tasks and outreach to families. This role helps ensure grieving families receive timely and thoughtful support through mailings, calls, and resource coordination that can be completed from the comfort of your own home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and send sympathy cards, follow-up letters, and bereavement mailings
- Organize and maintain bereavement files and tracking logs
- Assist with preparation and coordination of memorial services or grief support groups
Core Responsibilities for All Volunteers:
- Follow Michigan Palliative and Hospice Care policies and procedures
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information
- Complete orientation and any required training
- Communicate clearly and promptly with the Volunteer Coordinator
