4x4 Needed...4 Volunteers x 4 Hours Per Month = Making Someone Happy?

4x4...Four nice people are needed to spend four hours per month with four nice people making them feel special. That's all it takes, there are four people in the Portland, CT area who are socially isolated and would like to get out for a coffee or a hamburger or just a walk or drive on a nice day. These are folks who are legally blind and living in a board-n-care type facility... not quite a nursing home but a far cry from the Ritz! If you can spend about an hour per week or every other week, visiting, bringing coffee or just taking a walk this is a terrific way to do a good deed. It's so easy...

Requirements to be a great volunteer include:

• a desire to help others;

• a pleasant demeanor;

• a good reading/speaking voice;

• average reading skills;

• organizational or planning abilities;

• a good driving record;

• a clear criminal history;

• two references

• access to a car with proof of insurance;

a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
