About this Opportunity
Bring Comfort and Joy with Your Certified Therapy Animal
Volunteer with Apreva Hospice as a Pet Therapy Team
Apreva Hospice is seeking compassionate Pet Therapy Volunteers to share the healing power of animals with patients receiving end-of-life care. If you have a certified therapy dog (or other approved therapy animal), your visits can bring comfort, reduce anxiety, and spark joy and connection during a tender time.
How Pet Therapy Volunteers Make a Difference:
- Provide calming animal-assisted visits to patients in homes, facilities, or inpatient settings
- Offer comfort through gentle interaction and presence
- Help reduce feelings of isolation, stress, and depression
- Bring moments of happiness, memory recall, and emotional relief to patients and families
Requirements:
- Therapy animal must be certified by a recognized organization (e.g., Pet Partners, Alliance of Therapy Dogs, etc.)
- Current vaccination and health records for the animal
- Pet must be calm, well-mannered, and comfortable in various environments
- Volunteer must complete Apreva Hospice volunteer orientation
No Prior Hospice Experience Needed
We’ll provide all necessary training to support you and your furry companion on this meaningful journey.
Ideal Volunteers:
- Warm, compassionate individuals who enjoy sharing their pet’s love with others
- Comfortable being present in sensitive and emotional moments
- Able to respect patient privacy and hospice care values
Why It Matters:
A gentle wag of a tail or the soft nuzzle of a therapy dog can offer more comfort than words ever could. Your pet's presence may be the highlight of someone’s day.
