About PauseAI US: We’re a grassroots movement with one goal: prevent AI from causing catastrophe. We’re fighting for a global AI Treaty to ban superhuman AI, federal safety-testing and whistleblower protections, and state leadership to set ambitious standards.

PauseAI US has 15 local groups across the country – we need more Texans to join our ranks!

Why Texas: Texas is one of the most important states in the country for setting national— and even global— policy. Ted Cruz championed the 10-year moratorium on state AI regulation, but sustained public pressure got him to back down. We can repeat that success on a much more ambitious scale. By mobilizing Texans, building coalitions, and pressuring Congress, we can make Texas a leader on AI regulation.

We already have several volunteers in TX – but we need more leaders who can work with these volunteers and turn support into action. We would especially love leaders in Austin and Dallas, but would be delighted to hear from anyone in the state.

What our leaders do: Local leaders are the heart of our movement. They recruit volunteers, plan community events, build coalitions, and lobby lawmakers directly for our demands. See here for a more detailed description.
