About this Opportunity
York Region Educational Services (YRES) is dedicated to leading community volunteerism as a proud recipient of Canada's Volunteer Award, through providing a wide range of volunteer positions in communities in the Greater Vancouver Area, Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, and Alberta. We are looking for a Ottawa Event Volunteer—someone devoted to giving back to their community, making an impact, and who loves socializing.
The Networking Event Volunteer is responsible for:
- Greet visitors in a kind and professional manner as the first point of contact
- Coordinating and managing the event schedule, ensuring all sessions, speakers, and activities are appropriately aligned
- Oversee registration processes, including managing attendee lists, confirmations, and onsite check-in procedures
- Serve as the point person for event execution, overseeing the setup and cleanup of the event site
- Handle any logistical issues, attendee inquiries, or on-site challenges in a professional and calm manner
- Ensure that all materials are packed up, with correct inventory count of YRES property
- Responsible for capturing key moments during the event - for purposes of promotion, social media, and post-event reports
- Provide feedback on the event

Who We're Looking For:
✔ Minimum age: 12
✔ Able to independently arrive to work on time
✔ Passionate about volunteering and excited to learn
✔ Can commit to scheduled time of event
✔ Fluency in English
✔ Highly organized, detail-orientated and capable of managinig multiple tasks
Bonus Skills:
✔ Previous experience in event planning and coordinating
✔ Fluency/high proficiency in a language other than English considered an asset
