Overview:

This is a mission-critical leadership volunteer role. You’ll build and oversee the full HR system-creating tools, guiding strategy, and supporting team leads across the org. You’ll build what doesn't exist yet and guide others in making it last.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and launch a working HR department from the ground up
• Build out volunteer role descriptions, onboarding flows, and compliance steps
• Lead interviews for other HR roles (Specialists, Recruiters, etc.)
• Ensure legal and ethical HR documentation
• Guide the full lifecycle: recruitment → onboarding → exit
• Work closely with the President and executive team
• Track impact and advise on team culture and development

You’re Great At:

• Leading with strategy and clarity
• Building people systems that serve real needs
• Understanding compliance and documentation
• Managing a team of HR volunteers
• Navigating change, ambiguity, and growth

Bonus if you:

• Have HR Director or Senior Manager experience
• Are familiar with nonprofit, youth development, or mission-driven organizations
• Can create documents and systems from scratch
