Have You Ever Wanted to Work with the Blind?

Have You Ever Wanted to Work with the Blind? But didn't know where or how to start? This is a great opportunity for you to experience and learn a little bit about blindness and the various techniques and work-arounds that exist for a person who is totally or partially blind and living independently. You will be amazed at the all they can do, but...they still can't drive and a buddy is needed for certain outings like the grocery store. If you have a few hours per month or week, that's all it takes to be a good friend and to learn about blindness.

Requirements to be a great volunteer include:

• a desire to help others;
• a pleasant demeanor;
• a good reading/speaking voice;
• average reading skills;
• organizational or planning abilities;
• a good driving record;
• a clear criminal history;
• two references
• access to a car with proof of insurance;
• a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.

Volunteers will be matched within three to five miles of home or work.
