Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and driven Research Intern to join our team. The Research Intern will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's mission by conducting research on issues relevant to social justice and youth empowerment in Rhode Island. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, and make a real difference in the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research on topics related to social justice, youth empowerment, education equity, racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, economic opportunity, and other relevant issues impacting youth in Rhode Island.
- Gather and analyze data from various sources, including academic journals, reports, surveys, and community organizations.
- Assist in the development of research reports, policy briefs, fact sheets, and other materials to inform our advocacy efforts and program initiatives.
- Collaborate with staff members to identify research priorities and opportunities for strategic intervention.
- Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project planning activities.
- Stay informed about current events, policy developments, and emerging trends affecting youth and social justice issues.
- Support the organization's outreach and communication efforts by contributing content for website updates, social media posts, newsletters, and other communication channels.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in a field related to social sciences, public policy, sociology, education, or a related field.
- Strong research skills, including the ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
- Passion for social justice and a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion for marginalized communities.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
