About this Opportunity
Indiana County Thrives is a local initiative working to revitalize coal-impacted communities across Indiana County, Pennsylvania¿places that have powered this nation for generations. As energy markets shift, many of these hardworking towns are looking for practical ways to build on their existing strengths, protect their way of life, and secure a stronger future.
This program supports local leaders and residents in taking charge of their economic future¿through community-based planning, resource coordination, and by helping towns tap into new opportunities without leaving traditional energy workers behind. The effort is grounded in conservative values: limited government, self-reliance, and respect for the industries that built this region.
The VISTA member will play a key role in helping communities organize around shared priorities such as infrastructure, energy development, and local job creation. With expanded access to state and federal energy-related resources, we¿re seeing more opportunities for rural towns to lead the way in shaping how energy and economic development work hand-in-hand. The VISTA will work closely with community partners to connect these resources to local needs¿ensuring that Indiana County towns have the tools, partnerships, and plans to compete and thrive without relying on top-down mandates.
This is an opportunity to serve where it matters most¿supporting energy-producing communities in building a stronger, more self-sufficient future on their own terms.
