25-26 A World Fit For Kids! Learning & Growth VISTA

Since 1994, A World Fit For Kids! has delivered transformative afterschool programming to Los Angeles' underserved communities, focusing on healthy behaviors and personal empowerment. Our achievements include: securing over $54 million for programs in low-income neighborhoods; serving more than 480,000 children and families; and receiving the Gold Medal from the California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

In recognition of our exceptional outcomes for kids, we were awarded the Gold Medal from the California Governor¿s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports as the most outstanding non-profit organization ¿positively impacting the physical activity, fitness and well-being of California¿s children and youth¿ and two of our sites have been certified as Healthy Behaviors Learning Centers by the Network for a Healthy California (a division of the California Department of Public Health) and the Center for Collaborative Solutions.

Our programs are intentionally designed to promote personal development principles and healthy behaviors practices by integrating physical activity and nutrition education both in and out of school. In addition to reducing obesity, increasing graduation rates and enhancing work readiness, our programs promote the physical, mental and emotional wellness of students and keep them engaged in positive, quality activities that allow them to succeed in school and in life. Our students are becoming better decision makers and are attending school more regularly, earning better grades and scoring higher on standardized tests. They¿re making healthier decisions that can last a lifetime.
