About this Opportunity
The Volunteer Medical Clinic is part of the Healthcare Services of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and has been in the Mount Pleasant community of Washington, DC since the 1960¿s. We provide primary health care services utilizing a team of about 100 volunteers which allows us to not charge patients for visits. Our patient population is composed of uninsured and low-income adults living in Maryland. Our volunteers serve as clinicians, specialty doctors in connection with our healthcare network, Spanish interpreters, eligibility specialists, and other clinical and non-clinical support. Located in the heart of our nation¿s capital, we offer a unique healthcare setting which allows VISTA members to collaborate with a team of medical professionals, administrators, and other AmeriCorps members as well as gain access to professional development to help launch them into their career all while serving a vulnerable population. The member coordinates and supports the volunteers, especially the volunteer clinicians. Utilizing and building skills such as clinic coordination, grant research and writing, and organizational skills, our VISTA members leave our program ready to be leaders in their field. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA¿s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty.
