About this Opportunity

Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) was formed in 1949 as the primary service arm of the Archdiocese of New York. The mission of CCCS is to ¿provide help and create hope¿ through compassionate human services for New Yorkers of all religions who are in need. Catholic Charities Community Services, Archdiocese of New York seeks to uphold the dignity of each person by serving the basic needs of the poor, troubled, frail, and oppressed of all religions. Through a network of administered, sponsored, and affiliated agencies, CCCS delivers, coordinates, and advocates for quality human services and programs that assist with human needs and alleviate poverty. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA¿s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. The VISTA member will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty. CCCS is looking to develop and strengthen a network of interns, volunteers, and community partnerships in NYC to support needs and goals that families have, including advocacy to access benefits, employment preparation, resume development, acquiring basic material needs, and more. Through this position, the AmeriCorps VISTA Member will work to grow capacity in NYC through volunteer recruitment and management, partnership building, and community engagement. They will partake in strategic planning for recruitment and will create tools to enable sustainability within volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and engagement, and the development and maintenance of community partnerships. The member will also manage a growing force of volunteers and interns, as well as participate in team meetings, event planning, service days, trainings, and special events.
