About this Opportunity

The Soft Landing Missoula (SLM) youth program aims to create opportunities for success, emotional and physical wellbeing, and social engagement for refugee and immigrant youth in Missoula, Montana. By developing and offering a range of services for youth, SLM aims to create an environment and community space where these clients have access to academic, social, and recreational opportunities that support positive social determinants of health. SLM offers after school academic mentoring, college access support, and summer programming as well as social and recreational opportunities for elementary, middle, high school, and college refugee students.

Soft Landing's Youth Program priorities are to: provide academic support to middle and high school students during the school year; provide summer programming and events to engage youth with priority given to 4-8th grade, new arrivals age k-young adult, elementary students, high school students, young adults; provide social and recreational opportunities throughout the school year with priority given to middle school students, high school students, elementary students, young adults; and provide academic support and guidance to those wishing to pursue and actively enrolled in higher education. Summer Service Member will aid in the planning and implementation of academic, social and recreational summer programming. Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
