ENGAGE: Kids Club at Spring Valley Safe Parking

Many individuals experiencing homelessness for the first time often opt to live in their cars. Dreams for Change hosts a safe parking program where these individuals can have a safe place to park and receive on-site services such as restrooms, handwashing stations, charging stations, and case management services. Volunteering gives the children in their program the chance to interact with others while offering their parents valuable time to focus on self-care and personal development. You'll always have the support of parents and staff, ensuring a safe and uplifting experience for everyone involved.

Kids Club volunteers engage in activities such as playing games, reading books, or doing arts and crafts with the kids. If children are not present or enrolled during your shift, please consider staying to provide an activity for adult participants. 

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Comfortable, casual attire that is appropriate around children. This opportunity takes place both indoors and outdoors

• Physical Requirements:  Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations.

• Photos: Dreams for Change has a very strict policy of no photos. This is especially true of the children in their programs.

• ​Note: Clearing a Megan's Law California Sex Offender search before your first shift is required to participate in this opportunity. 
  
  You must download the HandsOn Connect app to your smart device to electronically sign the waiver and check in at this volunteer opportunity. If you do not sign in using the app, your service hours will not be verified and their team will not go back and modify them. The HandsOn Connect App can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play. If you do not download the app and sign in with the on-site Hands on San Diego QR code, your hours will not count.
