Classroom Volunteer

QUICK OVERVIEW
Join Girls Inc. of Los Angeles as a classroom volunteer! This opportunity is for volunteers interested in a weekly commitment to engage and mentor youth after school, once or twice a week, between the hours of 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Girls Inc. programs are located in South and West Los Angeles. To volunteer, complete a volunteer application linked here.

Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, through direct service and advocacy.

IMPACT
Become a program volunteer and help inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold!

We serve girls (including youth identifying as female), 5-13 years old, living in under-resourced LA neighborhoods, and facing intersecting systemic inequities that limit the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. In 2025, Girls Inc. LA will be extending services to high schools to serve girls, ages 14-18. 

VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Bring your boldest self to empower girls to discover their inherent strengths and mentor them on making informed decisions while having fun.

In-class volunteers support instructors with weekly activities in our classrooms, assist in creating a safe and inviting space for girls, and guide youth to explore topics that will help them build community, think outside the box, and increase their confidence.

REQUIREMENTS 
A classroom volunteer requires a weekly commitment to engage and mentor youth after school, once or twice a week, between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Girls Inc. offers programs in the Fall from August to December  & the Spring semester from January to June. To volunteer, please complete a Girls Inc. application on our website: girlsincla.org/become-a-volunteer  . Once your application is received, you will be contacted directly through email.

Volunteer requirements: 

• Must be at least 18 years old to volunteer. 
• Attend a Zoom volunteer meeting to learn about Girls Inc. of LA
• Complete a Livescan fingerprinting screening
• Submit a negative TB test. 
• Complete volunteer-mandated reporter training.
• Attend a Girls Inc. School Safety Orientation
