About this Opportunity
What will volunteers be doing at this event?
Friends of Shelby's toolshed houses all of the materials we use for volunteer projects, park improvements, and even some of our event materials. Throughout the year, from busy schedules to heavy rain, the toolshed can get messy, disorganized, and dirty. Volunteers will help us by building a new shelving structure for our heavier tools, as well as installing new hanging hooks into the walls. All of this will improve our operations, making it easier for us to take care of Shelby.
What is the community impact of this event?
By having an organized toolshed, we're able to be faster and more efficient. Dirty or damaged tools hinder us from doing our very best work, so keeping everything clean and safe is important.
What should volunteers bring to this event?
Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes for their safety, and long pants are recommended but not required. Please be sure to wear adequate sun protection (sunglasses, hats, sunscreen), though I will have extra sunscreen on hand. Friends of Shelby provides all of the necessary tools, gloves, and safety equipment, as well as extra water and snacks. Bringing your own water bottle is always recommended.
Accessibility/safety
Parking in this area will either be on unpaved grass or at a nearby parking lot just a short walk away. The toolshed is paved, though the pavement is chipped/uneven in some spots. All of this will take place near a building with running water restrooms.
Feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions!
You will be sent a pre-event email before the event happens with parking information, reminders on what to bring, and notes about the weather (if applicable).
