Brief Organizational Description:

Capital Area Partnership Uplifting People, Inc. (CAPUP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with nearly 60 years of commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals facing hardships. Our mission is to empower and uplift communities through collaborative partnerships, dedicated staff, and impactful programs designed to create positive change.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

We are seeking a friendly and engaging volunteer to serve as a Greeter at CAPUP. As a Greeter, you will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported. You will also assist with managing the waiting area and help identify any needs our guests may have. This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for individuals seeking assistance.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and ensure they sign in.

  • Answer phone calls as they come in/respond to voicemails (if the receptionist is not present).

  • Ensure the waiting area is tidy and comfortable.

  • Engage with guests relationally, offering support and ensuring they feel at ease.

  • Report any immediate needs or concerns from guests to Basic Needs Staff (Alyssa).

  • Assist with any other tasks as needed to support the smooth operation of the waiting area.

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to engage with guests in a compassionate and professional manner.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Prior experience in customer service or volunteering is a plus, but not required.

Time Commitment:

Volunteers will be expected to work for three hour shifts (for the duration of the food pantry + some prep time before). Your support will directly impact the well-being of our neighbors, and together, we can bring hope and comfort to those who need it most.

Thank you for your consideration in supporting this important initiative! We look forward to partnering with you to uplift our community.
