About this Opportunity

The Thaddeus Resource Center is looking for support through a Tech Professional Mentor. 

Why: The Volunteer Tech Professional Mentor's primary goal is to guide the organization's tech staff and interns. They will utilize their expertise in technology, software development, and IT operations to empower their mentees.

Who: The Thaddeus Resource Center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to RESTORE HOPE, INSPIRE GROWTH, and EMPOWER GIRLS & WOMEN through housing, mental health services, education, life skill development, workforce training, and other supportive services.

What to Expect: 
  • Supervise and mentor 5 to 10 interns in the Tech department 
  • Work closely with developers, designers, and system administrators 
  • Assist in planning and executing tech projects 
  • Oversee and assist in various development and operations of the Tech department, including but not limited to:   
  • Monitoring specific group projects (e.g., app and web development) 
  • Advancing interns skillset in terms of web and software development 
  • Designing and implementing procedures and strategies according to the strategic objectives of Thaddeus.  
  • Devising evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determining the areas of improvement  
  • Develop and manage general training and opportunities for your department staff  
  • Participate in group and individual mentoring, and maintain strong relationships with staff and the community  
  • Administer support and guidance to the executive director, fellow management, and other staff when complex and sensitive questions/issues arise 
  • This is a volunteer role, there is no monetary compensation.
What's Required: 
  • Background in software development, IT, or related fields 
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science/Engineering or related studies 
  • 5 years’ experience working in IT or a related field 
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, web design, and software development. 
  • Advanced comprehension of programming languages (Python and Java experience REQUIRED) 
  • Possess strong personal integrity and ethical principles 
  • Possess strong project management, problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task 
Time commitment: 
  • 5 hrs./week including mandatory meetings 
  • 1 year minimum 
  • Must be available for the following VIRTUAL weekly meetings: 
  • All staff meeting: Tuesdays 9am - 10am PST 
  • Tech department meetings: Thursdays 9am- 11am PST
