About this Opportunity

The Job Skills volunteer is responsible for planning and delivering workshops (or 1:1) to teach participants about effective job searching, resume and cover letter writing, how to prepare for an interview, and other skills related to job hunting. The content of the workshop is to be created by the volunteer with assistance and approval from the Volunteer Program Manager and/or shelter staff.

Specific Duties:
• Lead 1-hr workshops or assist 1:1 at various shelters (or online) for small groups of individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Provide knowledge and resources about job hunting, resumes, interviews, and other career related topics.
• Review participants’ resumes/cover letters and provide feedback.
• Develop curriculum and create materials for job skills workshops including slideshows, handouts, etc.
• Work with Volunteer Program Manager and shelter staff to identify and create appropriate materials. Printing can be done for free at TPI offices.
