About this Opportunity

Our Alton location provides curb-side food pantry service and is in need of regular food pantry intake volunteers on Wednesdays from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.  The volunteers will distribute intake forms on clipboards to all cars in the food pantry distribution line.  They will collect the forms and verify that all questions have been answered legibly.  Volunteers will answer any questions about the food pantry process and share any additional office information, i.e. the medication assistance program, winter coat sign up, etc.  Volunteers will work closely with the Office Manager and Food Pantry staff.  It is best for volunteers to be kind hearted, patient and outgoing.  Volunteers should dress weather appropriate and be able to walk a line of vehicles 15 deep at times.  This is a good opportunity to interact with food pantry clients and make them feel welcome.  This experience is eye opening for volunteers, as they see the needs of the community first hand and the amount of food necessary to satisfy food insecurity.  It's a good opportunity for volunteers to feel like they are truly helping to make a difference.
