About this Opportunity
Purpose: Welcome Center Associates serve as the first point of contact for our guests to Historic Bethlehem; welcoming guests to town, informing them on current Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites offerings, and ensuring a positive experience in the Historic Bethlehem Welcome Center.
Welcome Center Volunteers are needed Mondays– Thursdays, 10 am – 5pm and 10am-6pm Fridays-Sundays in Spring & Summer.
Hours tend to increase to 10am-6pm on Monday-Thursday & 10am-8pm on Friday-Sunday in the Fall/Holiday Season.
Location: Visitor Center Associates work in the offices, on the sales floor, and within the historic 1810 Goundie House at 501 Main Street in Bethlehem, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
Call and Outreach Volunteer
· Answer phone inquiries about HBMS offerings, tours, and general information
· Process over the phone ticket sales
· Complete outgoing phone calls to customers with upcoming dessert and ticket orders.
· Other duties as assigned
Greeter/Sales Floor Volunteer
· Greets guests at the Goundie House and offers historic information
· Greets guests and offers information about Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites
· Suggests items for purchase in the Welcome Center store
· Keeps sales floor clean and restocks when necessary
· Aid in directing visitors to the Check-out counter or the start location of their tour.
Tour Check-In Volunteer
· Using supplied iPad, assist in checking in tour ticket holders at the Goundie House and/or Hotel Bethlehem
· Assist in guiding visitors to the correct starting area for their tour
· In between tours, assist Welcome Center Staff with daily operations
· Other duties as assigned
Reports to Manager of Programs and Volunteers and Manager of Visitor Experience
Time Commitment: Volunteers are needed all year round but availability in November- December is preferred during our peak season/hours. Volunteer shifts typically run between 3-4 hours no more than 2 days a week. Looking for weekend and occasional evening availability
Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Pleasant manner, patience, problem-solving ability, confidence, dependability.
Support: Training for this position will be provided. Managers and experienced staff will be available for questions and assistance.
Age Requirement: 18+
